Tiffany Pollard, aka New York, has had three previous shots at finding love on VH-1. Each time, she’s come up short. Instead of honestly analyzing what she did wrong and taking responsibility for her mistakes, the self-proclaimed HBIC tells a therapist in the opening sequence of the second season of “I Love New York” that she’s just unlucky in love.
For those of us who’ve seen her escapades on “Flavor of Love” and now on “I Love New York,” well, we know the truth. New York is rude, crude and nasty. She does deserve love, but she needs to grow up too. She also needs to decide what she wants. She seems to gravitate towards the guys who don’t take her or the process seriously. She pooh-poohs all over the nice guys and then complains that she doesn’t get anywhere in love.
Puh-lease, sista!
However, the fact that she was discussing these issues in therapy made us believe that perhaps New York is ready to take a new tack and tackle love head-on this time. Unfortunately, after watching this week’s premiere, we realize she isn’t. That’s good news for viewers, but bad news for New York and the guys on her show.
New York and her mama, Sister Patterson, surveyed the new crop of suitors which included five “mama’s boys”, men Sister Patterson wants her daughter to pick, and internet guys, who were chosen by the fans.
She then greets each dude and gives him a nickname. Midget Mac, a little person, is, by far, the standout of the season so far. He’s cute, funny and sweet but he also has a thug-side which is great for New York. Tailor Made, one of mama’s boys, thinks that showing the wealth is the way to get NY. However, after she almost clips him, he decides that he needs to use a different approach.
Pretty is absolutely beautiful. He’s also intelligent. The law student with the long hair and cocoa-colored skin is our pick. We’ll take him if NY doesn’t.
Other dudes include a White-Boy look-a-like called Mr. Wise, the big teddy bear ManMan, an androgynous dude by the name of Unsure and an extraordinary geek with the moniker of Cheezy.
So far, there hasn’t been a lot of drama. Some of the guys were totally inappropriate with New York, attempting to grope her, but that’s to be expected. Another suggested that she did a good job getting implements, which she immediately and vehemently denied.
Sister Patterson even found a man. She left with Champion, one of her picks, after New York kicked him to the curb. We don’t even wanna know what the two of them did in the privacy of her chambers.
Looks like it’s gonna be another strange and interesting season. We can’t wait for things to pick up!
See Mac give some big attitude:
