Brandon Rogers
Brandon Rogers was sent home last Wednesday on American Idol after missing a few words of “You Can’t Hurry Love” during Diana Ross week. The sexy 29 year old singer who has already done tours of back-up duty for Christina Aguilera, Usher, Justin Timberlake and Anastacia said that he “had no hard feelings” and told host Ryan Seacrest about being eliminated that “I kind of expected it.”
Brandon was honest about his situation with the folks at MTV, “I absolutely knew what was coming. I did. I really felt at peace with the decision. I think you get a feeling when it's about time for you to go. I messed up my words and I hadn't created enough momentum, musically, to sustain a mistake like that.”
The humble dude says he couldn’t chock up the faux pas to nerves. In fact, he forgot his words 'cuz he was having too good of a time. “I went out there, had a great time, did my little dance, my little hip-shimmy and the crowd screamed. That was the loudest the crowd has been the whole time in the competition [that I was onstage] and I was like, "Whoa! This is awesome! What the heck are my words?" I completely lost the line. My mind went blank.”
If he could do it all over again, Brandon “would probably pick better songs that showed the range, and I think some of the bigger qualities of my voice.” He says that he’s not through with singing. Not by a long shot. Brandon hopes to use his appearance on Idol to kick-start his solo career.
He’s already got some die-hard fans including Bob Guiney. Guiney might be a familiar name to reality TV fans. He was first rejected by Trista Rehn on The Bachelorette, then given a turn as The Bachelor in season four of ABC’s reality dating franchise. The Michigan native, who is also a musician, is now married to soap star Rebecca Budig and tours with his own band, which is aptly called Bob Guiney Band.
Bob told mlive.com that “Brandon is a good buddy of mine.” He calls the crooner “really talented” and hints that “we haven’t seen his best work yet.”
We sure hope not!
