Laila Ali, the 29 year old pro boxer, is ready to put on her dancing shoes on more time during tonight’s Dancing with the Stars finale. She’s going up against former ‘NSync-er Joey Fatone and Olympic medalist, Apolo Anton Ohno. The quickstep specialist can’t be counted out just yet. She might just take this title home and be the first lady to win the series since Kelly Monaco beat John O’Hurley in the show’s inaugural season.
Unfortunately, all isn’t rosy in the lovely lady’s world these days. Laila admits that the strain of dancing has only made her knees worse. She tells the New York Post that “think I've worn out all the cartilage.” She wasn’t supposed to be putting any extra pressure on her knees and well, she’s been doing that daily during rehearsals for the reality TV series.
However, Ali is not one to complain. She just goes out there and gives it her all. Like her famous daddy, she’s “used to working through the pain.” Laila will probably need surgery on both knees at some point, but isn’t sure how extensive it will be.
In the meantime, Laila’s looking forward to not only the finale of DWTS 4, but also her impending nuptials to NFL wide receiver Curtis Conway. The duo’s getting hitched on July 22.
