Nina Garcia, the Colombian-born fashionista who critiques the designers each week on Project Runway, has been busy working on a project of her very own. The lovely Garcia, who’s wed to David Conrod, a senior managing director at Guggenheim Capital, announced in late October 2006 that she was expecting her first child. She quipped that “This baby must have some amazing fashion sense waiting until empire waists and volume came back into fashion!”

On Saturday, March 24, 2007, little Lucas arrived at the ungodly hour of  6:03 am. He weighed in at a healthy 7 lb., 6 oz. Garcia and Conrod’s rep told the folks at People magazine that the couple is “very excited to finally meet their new son.”

Garcia, 41, will have plenty to keep her busy in the coming months. Besides being a new mom, she’s got her gig as fashion director at ELLE Magazine. If that weren’t enough, she’s also just completed writing The Little Black Book of Style.
