Akron Watson, a 23 year old native Dallas-Forth Worth area, who auditioned in San Antonio, TX for Season Six of American Idol, initially earned a yes from two of the judges (Randy Jackson said no). He got his golden ticket and celebrated. He got a call from the producers who wanted to interview and film him. During the interview, Akron opened up about a lot of stuff including his arrest and guilty plea for possession of marijuana.

Afterwards, the producers took away his golden ticket. The young man will NOT be heading to Hollywood. Akron says he’s not sure why and feels as though he was lied to.

Series producer Nigel Lythgoe hasn’t been able to provide a definitive answer either. All he said was that “We are informed at the end of the day [by Fox] that you can't invite this person or persons, and we don't ask why. To be frank, we're not interested [in why].  If Fox believes it will damage the show... then it's best they just don't come along."
