Anna Nicole Smith died on February 8, 2007 at a Floridian hotel. The actress/model has continued to make headlines even in death. On Monday, the results of her autopsy were finally released. Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper, in conjunction with Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger, announced that her death was due to an “accidental drug overdose.” A combination of medications was found in her system which led to “combined drug intoxication.”
According to reports, nine different drugs, none of which were illegal, were found in the former Playmate’s body including methadone (pain reliever), chloral hydrate (sleep aid), Valium and several other medications used to treat anxiety and depression. Anna Nicole was also prescribed Tamiflu and other items to relieve a flu-like illness and a bacterial infection.
Now, media attention turns to Daniel Smith, Anna’s son. He predeceased her by several months. Daniel Smith died on September 10, 2006 while visiting his mother in the hospital after she had given birth to his baby sister, Dannielynn. A Bahamian jury will begin hearing evidence to determine how the young man died and if anyone should be charged in the death.
Howard K. Stern, who was present at both deaths, is expected to hit the witness stand as is Larry Birkhead, Anna’s former beau and the man fighting Stern for paternity of Dannielynn. The inquest is expected to last for at least a month.
