From the moment tennis ace Mark Philippoussis took a gander at 25 year old Amanda Salinas’ breasts, did anyone wonder who he would pick? Mark admitted that the lovely Hockey team dancer and financial analyst’s assistant was the first lady he felt attracted to. She was also the first one he kissed.
Amanda had big-time feelings for Mark as well. She was upset that he spent time and lavished attention on the other ladies. She even told him when Jayanna upset her. Jayanna made the mistake of telling Amanda that Mark was kissing other women. Mark sent Jayanna home right away.
Now, this should’ve sent a red flag to the rest of the contestants that Amanda had Mark’s ear and most likely his heart. It was no surprise on this week’s finale when he chose Amanda over the 48 year old model/executive assistant, Jennifer Braff.
Mark took both ladies home to meet his mum, sister and best friends. Some liked Jen best, but Mark’s mum preferred Amanda. She could see that Amanda was shy. Besides, she probably wants grandchildren someday and well, let’s face it, at 48, Jen might not want to or be able to oblige. Besides, Jen already has a 25 year old son.
Despite the fact that Amanda and Mark had their first solo date at a zoo (or something like that) where they petted koalas and saw kangaroos, Mark was really feeling this girl. He asked her to share this journey with him. He told Jen he just didn’t see them going further.
Talk about mixed signals. The night of their date, he and Jen looked very cozy. They kissed, they cuddled and they canoodled. Jen said she got her heart involved in the whole process. Whether or not she honestly did is another story.
As for Age of Love, this series proves why reality dating series’ don’t work out. We’ll be surprised – shocked, even – if Mark and Amanda get hitched or are still dating as of this moment. Dating is not a competition. It’s not about winners or losers. Setting it up as such is just a lose/lose situation. Reality TV producers should stop playing with people’s hearts and find something else to do.
Age doesn’t matter in love, but what the person is looking for, does. A man who has a history of dating much younger women is going to be hard-pressed to fall for an older woman. This ‘experiment’ is NOT a testimony to whether cougars or kittens are more desirable. It’s only a sad commentary on reality TV’s idiotic ideas when it comes to love, life and the bigger issues.
