Is this the face of Evel (Credit: CBS)
We’ve mentioned previously how we can’t stand Dick’s attitude towards his fellow hamsters. We just don’t think it’s cool for someone to behave this way towards anyone. We’ve done some investigating and found a ton of information about not only Evel Dick but also his fellow housemates. Most of ‘em have a not-so-rare disease called “diarrhea of the mouth.” Symptoms include spewing sh*t at the people around you and making other people sick with your idiot-speak.
According to message boards full of live-feed watchers, a few things have gone down that we just are so annoyed about. For instance, Dick has expressed a desire to ‘rape Jen, Dustin and Kail anally until they bleed to death.’ He supposedly told Jen that he can’t “wait until I feel the bones in your throat breaking beneath my fingers.”
If this is all true – and like we said, we have it on good authority it is, two things upset us even more 1) that CBS isn’t airing some of this bull sh*t – (yeah, we actually see the milder, gentler Dick on the tube) and 2) they haven’t kicked his sorry @ss out of the house.
Of course, as we mentioned before, Dick is not the only hamster acting demonic this season. Dustin was telling someone that he has a cute pet name for his little black dog. He refers to her as a “n*gger b*tch.” Jessica has talked a little smack about Asians. Amber, for her part, has mentioned that she feels Jewish people are all “selfish” and motivated by “money.”
CBS responded to Amber's hurtful commentary by stating that “BIG BROTHER is a reality show about watching a group of people who have no privacy 24/7 - and seeing every moment of their lives. At times, the Houseguests reveal prejudices and other beliefs that we do not condone.” They will also NOT broadcast such bigotry on air.
When Celebrity Big Brother in the UK had issues with racism (remember Shilpa Shetty and Jade Goody’s problems earlier this year?), the Brits were extremely angry. They urged the network to take action – and they voted out the offenders toot sweet. Here, in the US, we’re treating this stuff as a joke, or worse, a non-issue.
CBS is missing an opportunity to bring these prejudices to light, and do something about it like – oh we don’t know – hosting a special sensitivity training day in the BB8 House. What people need to realize is that words do hurt. We, as a nation, need to send the message that racism, sexism, homophobia and intolerance will not be tolerated in the ‘land of the free and the home of the brave’. If this is a reality TV series, then there are people in this nation who are just as screwed up and ignorant as these houseguests are presenting themselves to be.
That’s a scary reality, isn’t it? We're just not sure we want to continue watching. What about you?
