The I Love New York reunion special was not without its controversy. As soon as hostess LaLa told everyone that Pootie, Jersey and Rico couldn’t be there ‘cuz‘one had issues, another was on crutches and the last dude was in jail,’ you just knew that this was gonna be a classy hour of TV.
Most of the episode seemed scripted with Mr. Boston bringing out twin and his new galpal, Pumkin, New York’s nemesis from the first season of Flavor of Love. Then, there was 12-Pack and Heat promoting their business, The Party Boys. Yup! You can pay them to drink and hang out with you and your friends. Fantastic, right?
Finally, Chance needed subtitles for the folks at home to understand what he was saying. However, he seemed hurt by the fact that New York didn’t pick him. Maybe he did care for her after all. Who knows?
Tango, aka Patrick Hunter, provided the biggest surprise of the evening. He called off his engagement to Tiffany Pollard, aka New York. Yes, indeedy! Tango proved that he’s got backbone and didn’t like the fact that the b*tch dissed his mama. As he says on his MySpace page, “Disrespect me ehhh....Not a problem, Disrespect my Friends or Family..NOW THATS A PROBLEM.”
Although I was glad NY chose Tango over Chance, I’ve got to agree with Tango’s decision. I wouldn’t want to be with someone who played me out like that. Do I feel bad for New York? No. She ain’t no victim. She makes her own decisions and mistakes. She needs to grow-up. I hoped that by choosing Tango, she could move towards a better place, but … she seemed to be very upset that she didn’t choose Chance and I’m not sure she was that serious about Tango anyway. I mean she did diss his mama and didn’t appear to be thrilled with the engagement. In fact, she wasn’t wearing the ring before Tango came out…so,
Despite the fact that last night's "Reality Reunion" was scripted, I do think that Tango did the right (and honest) thing by dumping NY. He was the one bright spot in a disappointing show. Of course, I’m sure VH-1 will have a follow-up series with New York, but you know what, like Tango, I think I’m through with her.
