Chris Sligh, he of the mop-top and soulful song stylings, has caused some controversy. The American Idol crooner has some friends and fans questioning his faith. Apparently, they don’t like the fact that he seems to have forsaken his Christian roots.
Jonathan Pait of the fundamentalist Bob Jones University which Sligh attended for several years told the news outlet AP that, “We really are somewhat disappointed with the direction he has gone musically.”
Regardless, the humorous Sligh does seem to take his faith seriously. For example, he does list “Jesus” as his top personal hero on his American Idol page. He also told Greenville Online that “I am a Christian who is an artist, but I don't consider myself a Christian artist. I think ministry is more in relationships."
Chris, who is married to the lovely Sarah and has been for three years, does find solace in the Seacoast Church, the members of which get together each week to watch their ‘Idol’ perform on national TV.
