What a Dog (Credit: A&E TV)
Duane Chapman rose to fame in the spring of 2004 when A&E premiered the reality TV series, Dog the Bounty Hunter. He’s making headlines not for catching criminals but for some unfortunate behavior of his own. The National Enquirer recently released some audio tape of the Hawaii-based TV star. In it, he uses the N-bomb in obvious reference to his son’s galpal, Monique Shinnery.
Roy Innis, the chairperson of the Congress for Racial Equality (CORE), called for Dog’s show to be pulled from the airwaves. A&E has promptly done just that. They have suspended production on the series “pending an investigation.” When that’s over, they will “take the appropriate action.” Repeats of the series will continue to air on the network in the interim.
Dog has apologized for the incident, telling the folks at TMZ.com that the statement “was completely taken out of context.” He admits that he was disappointed in his son’s “choice of a friend, not due to her race, but her character” and admits that he “should have never used that term.”
He asks his fans for forgiveness and promises to learn from this “mistake”.
