Mark Philippoussis may not be well-known to those of you who don’t follow tennis, but…to those of us who love the game, well, we’re fully aware of the 31 year old pro’ s charms. The handsome Australian jet setter, who split from his teenage model fiancée, Alexis Barbara, last July, admits that he’s “shy” and is really just looking for someone special to share his life with. In the past, he’s also dated Aussie singer Delta Goodrem and Anna Kournikova.
Despite his ‘shyness’, Philippoussis is okay with putting his search on display in the States on reality TV. Age of Love is a Bachelor-style-dating show that will pit women from two age groups against each other. According to a network statement, "the Kittens (are) six fun, enthusiastic women in their 20s and the Cougars (are) seven beautiful, sophisticated women in their 40s."
Although Philippoussis hasn’t yet dated a woman older than he is, he’s open to the possibility. As he says, “age doesn’t matter. I would just like to meet someone.” When asked what kind of woman he’s seeking, the former Wimbledon runner-up, who’s been sidelined due to a knee injury, admits that he won’t consider smokers or ladies who don’t love dogs. He currently shares his life and bed with a four-month-old rottweiler puppy, Kya.
Hmmm? Will the kitties, cougars and doggy all get along?
We’ll just have to wait for the answer to that. Age of Love premieres on June 18, 2007 on NBC.
