Petra Nemcova (Credit: Gowers) The Petra Nemcova Project has been given the green light by TLC. The series will be aired in eight-parts and is being produced by the Mottola Company and 25/7 Productions. The show will travel the globe searching for undiscovered models who will then be flown to NYC to audition for contacts with NEXT Model Management.
The Czech supermodel, who is currently dating singer James Blunt, will give the wannabes tips and provide suggestions on how they can survive not only the fierce competition in the series but also in the modeling industry.
Nemcova knows all about survival. She clung for life in the 2004 Tsunami by hanging on a palm tree for eight hours. The gutsy gal lost her fiancée, British photographer Simon Atlee, but was able to rebuild her life and career after the tragedy. She founded the Happy Hearts Fund in 2005 to aid children “who have suffered loss or hardship as a result of natural, economic or health-related disasters.” So far, the organization has raised over $1.5 million to assist youngsters in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Pakistan.
Biggest Loser producer, David Broome is proud to be working on this project. As he told Variety, “This isn't a game show. You're not going to get the clawing and bitch-slapping you get in the other shows. The drama here is real and not put together." He claims that this series shows the true “reality of the modeling industry.”
The show is expected to air on TLC sometime this summer.
