Someone needs to stop Ashton Kutcher. Sure, he was good as the less than intelligent hunk, Michael Kelso, on That 70s Show. He was just aiiight – to take a turn of phrase from American Idol’s Big Dawg Randy Jackson – in Punk’d. C’mon, we all know the celebs made the show. I mean – remember when Justin Timberlake had a meltdown. That was epic, wasn’t it?
Then, came his relationship with now-wife Demi Moore. Good for you, dude. We can respect you landing a major beauty like Ms. Moore. She’s incredible. We even forgave you for movies like The Butterfly Effect and… wait for…Just Married.
But what the hell was up with Beauty & the Geek, a “social experiment” pitting lovely – and often dumb – gals with intelligent guys who make Star Trek conventioneers look cool? For some weird reason – perhaps because the CW doesn’t have much of a lineup yet – the show recently wrapped its third season.
Now, I read that NBC is working with him on another ‘reality TV gem’ – The Real Wedding Crashers. The movie starring Vince Vaughan and Owen Wilson was great. However, Kutcher and crew, which includes Jason Goldberg – I think he’s married to Punky Brewster, aka Soleil Moon Frye – are going to take a kernel of inspiration from the flick and add some Punk’d-style pranks to the mix…with the support of the bride and groom.
There will be six episodes of the series which begin airing on Monday April 23, immediately after Heroes. This press release states that “some pranks will be light-hearted and funny, while others will be emotional and bring the families together. At the end of each show, viewers will be treated to a huge reveal when the "crashers" admit to their pranks.”
Does anyone else see a problem with us, or is it just me? Sure, the producers paid for the folks’ weddings, but…isn’t there a potential to do some lasting emotional damage? Shouldn't some things remain sacred?
Oh well, y’all can watch and tell me what you think. As for me, I’ll skip this stinker. I've got other stuff I can watch.
