The competition is getting fierce on America’s Next Top Model this season. Despite some early problems between Bianca and Lisa, we really haven’t seen much drama. This season it’s about the modeling – and we kinda like that.

However, we’re still not thrilled with the “oh, look at how socially aware ANTM is becoming” sub-theme. Sorry, folks. You might like it, but we think it smacks of jumping on the band wagon and has little to do with genuine love of the planet. For example, do they use makeup products that are NOT tested on animals? Don’t have harmful chemicals? What about the film? Is it eco-friendly? All that lighting – is it fluorescent?

This week the ladies met Tyson Beckford. He’s sooooooooo beautiful. OMG. We love us some Tyson Beckford, y’all. (Yeah, we know he’s married to UK entrepreneur Berniece Julien, but we can still drool from afar.)

Anyway, Tyson coached the ladies on the ways of the spokesmodel. More than a few of them could barely concentrate. It’s like they haven’t seen a real man in weeks. Wait…let’s not go there.

Tyson, who will co-host Bravo’s new reality competition “Make Me A Supermodel” with Niki Taylor in early 2008, then took the ladies to shoot a PSA for the AIDS charity, Keep A Child Alive. The girls were split up in groups of three. Each group had to come up with their own script and perform it in front of the cameras. Heather, Ambreal and Jenah won. The girls received $500 gift baskets from Carol’s Daughter. Heather was picked from those three to do a photo-shoot, art-directed by Mary J. Blige, and lensed by Matthew Rolston.

Heather got some great advice from the photog on how to shoot full-face and not in profile. She took it to heart because she delivered fantastic face on photos in the shoot with Mr. Jay. Ambreal and Ebony had troubles unfortunately which landed these gals in the bottom two.

However, Ebony told Tyra that she didn’t want to be a model. She wanted to go home. Tyra let her leave and told Ambreal she could stay. Ambreal had already been given the heave-ho by the judged but opted to remain because she really wants this.
