Sarah Jessica Parker became a fashion icon on Sex & the City. SJP is the reason at least one of our designers this season – Chris March in fact – moved to NYC. Awww! He was in tears when Tim Gunn introduced the diminutive diva to the throng. This week’s challenge had the designers pitch ideas to SJP for her BITTEN clothing line. According to SJP, BITTEN is ‘affordable and stylish clothing for women’. The line is sold at Steve & Barry’s stores nationwide.
Out of the pitches, SJP chose seven. Marion, Elisa, Rami, Christian, Kit, Victorya and we forget the last one. Each of these designers chose another designer to work with. No one wanted to work with Elisa. They all think she’s car-azy. Sweet Pea was the lucky one, and Elisa was like, ‘great, I wanted to work with you!’
The less than dynamic duo had some difficulties with aesthetic and working styles. Sweet Pea was shocked when Elisa spit on the design to mark it…as were we. Elisa’s reply was something like it infuses the design with my essence. Uh…you spit on the clothes! Eeek! Regardless, Sweet Pea could see the value in the design and helped Elisa rock it out. Together they did well. SJP liked the finished product very much and almost gave it the nod.
In the end, Victorya’s dress and vest combo was just too cute (and marketable) to pass up.
Christian and Carmen and Marion and Steven were on the chopping block. Christian was shocked that his 80s-inspired frock and jacket were under fire. He really thought his vision was cool and accessible to millions. The tight dress was good for no one but women like SJP who have no fat on them. Carmen tearfully told the judges that Christian should go over her. Marion’s messy frock was poorly constructed. The fabric was ugly – it looked like a dirty potato sack. Steven and Marion both agreed that Marion should head out the door for this design…as did the judges. Heidi sent him auf with a kiss at least.
