Chris Kirkpatrick, Bryan Abrams, Jeff Timmons and Rich Cronin don’t want to be a joke. These guys want to be taken seriously as musicians. As former boy banders, each knows that it’s difficult to make the transition from eye candy to serious artiste. With the ‘mission’ VH-1 has given them, they want to take it to the next level.
Manager Katie McNeil thinks that means putting the guys out there after less than two days’ worth of work learning a new song and never having performed together live before. She’s supposed to be a big shot music exec, but that’s not really a smart move, is it?
The guys don’t think they’re ready to sing at an Orlando Magic basketball game. They’re afraid they’ll be booed. Frankly, so too are we. As it is, Jeff is dealing with vocal problems – he’s hoarse – and confidence issues. Bryan is drinking again. He even shows up to a band meeting with a few in him, causing Chris to give it to him straight – it’s the booze or the music, dude. We’re glad to hear that since the series Bryan has gone to rehab in Nashville and gotten some help he desperately needed.
We want to give kudos to Bryan for dealing directly with his demons and not denying them.
We’re terribly upset that Miss Kate, as the guys call her, pushed them into this performance. It was not good at all. In fact, it was boo-able. The crowd booed the men, which is what they were afraid of. Instead of a confidence boost, the gig was an out and out failure. It’s going to make Sureshot’s road even harder, which is totally unfair.
Next week, it looks like the guys want to fire Miss Kate. We’re all for that! What about you?
