This week team Hydra and Empresario were put in charge of creating a 30 second video for Pedigree regarding their adoption drive. Apparently, four million dogs are abandoned annually in this country. Only half of these are adopted. Having adopted dogs ourselves, we totally believe in this concept.
The ladies from Empresario, under the management of former Telemundo exec and reality TV diva, Nely Galan, created a messy spot featuring three stories from the dog’s point of view. It was a cute concept, but executed poorly. However, they did meet with the client first, which was a very business-like thing to do.
Marilu had trouble with the direction and the actors. Her appearance at the end had to be scrapped in favor of a voice-over, which cost the team greatly.
Gene Simmons took the reins for Hydra and acted like a dictator throughout. He chose Steven Baldwin to direct the commercial. Lennox Lewis was the star. He and a cute dog played and cavorted. Trace Adkins did the voice-over, which was pretty cool. However, Gene’s attitude was off-putting to his teammates and even Ivanka Trump. When Ivanka came to check up on the guys, Gene told Steven that “she’d wait.” As she left, Gene told her not to tell the ladies what they were up to as some sort of ‘solidarity thing.’
Wow!
Luckily for Gene and Hydra, they pulled out the winning commercial. In fact, the client, despite feeling slighted that they didn’t meet with him, will use the commercial in a national ad during the Westminster Dog Show. The ladies had to send another one home.
Nely chose Carol Alt – which we don’t understand. We’re not sure what Carol did during the task even – and Nadia Comaneci. In the end, The Donald determined that Nadia, a former Olympic Gold Medalist, is a leader of herself, but not of others. Despite his respect for her, he had to let her go.
La revedere, Nadia.
