The Project Runway designers had to tackle one of the scariest American traditions on Wednesday night – the High School Prom. Yes, the designers were given clients from a New Jersey Catholic high school. The girls had chosen their designer based on their portfolios.
Christian hit the ‘jackpot’. His client, Maddie, fancied herself a bit of a designer. She was quite outspoken and Christian just didn’t deal with her or the situation well. The dress was a mess too, which landed him in the bottom three. Overall, Christian, who didn't much like proms anyway, had a rough week.
Rami, who is usually so amazing, was also on the bottom. Luckily, he had immunity. We loved his dress, but understood that the color might not have been good for his client and the cut was a bit sophisticated for a seventeen year old. However, his client was happy with the dress.
Ricky created a gown that the seventeen year old girl in him wanted to wear. Unfortunately, it was poorly constructed … AND…the light pink color washed his client out.
On the plus side, Sweet P made a gorgeous gown using a lovely champagne charmeuse (say that ten times fast – it’s fun). It was beautiful, elegant and fit for a goddess. Victorya won the challenge for her bright blue, beaded dress. It was short and modern and cute, but not our idea of a prom dress.
In the end, Kevin Christiana was auf’d. He didn’t hem his dress. It was too short and made his client look old and frumpy. However, we thought that Ricky deserved the heave-ho more.
Oh well. Maybe next week the designers can create bridesmaid dresses…Eek!
