This is the week we’ve been waiting for – when Bret finally realizes that Lacey is not the girl for him. Bret kicks off the action by telling his ‘awesome threesome’ that he has a surprise for them. It’s meet the parents week on “Rock of Love”. Heather’s mom and dad, who have rarely been in the same room together, show up. They are a hoot and a holler. Jes’ mom and dad seem nice, but quiet and reserved. Lacey’s dad immediately gets under everyone’s skin.
Apparently, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.
The truth is that we get a great deal of insight into Lacey via her daddy Otis. Her dad is a self-made millionaire. Lacey is daddy’s little girl. However, daddy may not know who his little girl is. He seems blissfully unaware that Lacey is as manipulative as she is. Either that or he doesn’t care.
Otis insults everyone almost immediately. He really gets under Bret’s skin and grills the poor guy before he has a chance to welcome him to his abode. Apparently, Bret and Otis met once before on a plane ride. Back then, Otis showed Bret a picture of his daughter. Bret asked if he could date her, and the man said no.
Apparently, he’s got to be thrilled that Bret has been doing more than ‘dating’ Lacey according to Heather and the rest of the girls in the house.
Otis also takes issue with Heather’s career choice. During dinner, he asks her about her background. She tells him she has several degrees. Otis then tells her that he can help her get a job with one of his clients. This hurts Heather and pisses her off at the same time.
Then, when Heather and her folks talk about their lunch date with Bret, he insults the place Bret took them to because it had a mechanical bull. Unfortunately, the man hasn’t seemed to buy any manners with his mountains of money. At one point, he goes so far to tell Bret that if he ever got serious about Lacey, that he’d need to sign a pre-nup. Bret took issue with that. He doesn’t need Lacey’s or anyone else’s money. Besides, Bret was under the impression that Lacey was a ‘starving musician.’ At least that’s what Lacey led him to believe.
Later on, probably because she doesn’t feel terribly secure with daddy around, Lacey decides that she’s going to attack Heather for being a stripper. Lacey told Bret that Heather has no respect for her parents by being a stripper. It hurts them. This sent Heather over the deep end. She screamed at Lacey, calling her a liar and worse. Once inside, she told Lacey’s father that he doesn’t know who his daughter really is. He’ll be appalled once he sees the season, if he even watches.
Bret was very upset about the blowout. He sent Lacey off to deal with Heather. He obviously can’t handle confrontation. (Note to girls – this could be a red flag if you’re looking for a relationship with the rocker. We’re just saying.)
Jes and her parents stayed out of the fray. They enjoyed each other’s company and Bret enjoyed the time he spent with them. At first, he thought they might judge him, but he quickly learned that Jes’ peeps are cool beans. In fact, he gave Jes the first tour pass. He’s really feeling her, and she’s into him too.
Lacey was unconcerned about her standing in Bret’s heart. She fully expected a tour pass. Instead, she was shown the door. Bret said he didn’t think she was being entirely truthful with him, and, although there were lots of things he loved about her, there were others that would ruin their relationship down the line.
In the end, it’s Heather and Jes who are going to Cabo with Bret next week. We can’t wait for the finale.
