This week, Shear Genius clipped two more of its stylists. In the Short Cut Challenge, Sally Hershberger, the hairstyling icon who created the Meg Ryan shag, showed the stylists how to do it. Then, they had to re-create the look for her on mannequins. Lacey decided to do it her way, but not in a good way. The style fall flat, and she was sent packing.
Tyson won the challenge and got some major perks. He not only had first pick of his client and choice of tool, but he dictated the order the rest of the stylists went in. Tyson’s strategy was to give those with less hair-cutting skill, according to him, the better picks. He left Tabatha, who he feels is his biggest competition, for last.
Now, calling out a pecking order this early in the game isn’t gonna make friends with anyone, but…who am I to judge?
Later on, the stylists get to call their families for five minutes. Tyson, who’s still high on himself, goes first. Theodore tells him mom he’s gonna win the whole thing so I know he’s on his way out. Oh yes!
And, well, when it comes time for the elimination challenge, I’m not disappointed. Theodore picks a curly-coiffed model and wastes time giving her a hand massage. The gals’ hair is hideous. It wouldn’t matter what tool he used. He deserved to go.
Some of the wacky stuff the ‘designers’ used included craft scissors, box cutters and hedge clippers. Evangelin knows the other contestants think she’s a weak link—why I don’t understand—chose the clippers. Her risk paid off. She had the top cut and showed everyone that she’s a force to be reckoned with.
You go, girl!
