At the end of the last episode, Zhan Hu got rid of Chicken, the chicken farmer. Jeff, in an attempt to help the tribe out, asked who would step up to take a leadership role. Both Dave and Peih-Gee offered to do so.
This episode we see that even under leadership Zhan Hu is struggling. Dave acts more like a dictator than a leader. He’s abrasive and often rude to his ‘underlings.’ He bosses people around and doesn’t really listen to their ideas. Sure, he’s working hard, but he’s not working smart. He gets into a tussle with Jaime over food. He gets into arguments with Ashley, the WWE wrestler, over just about everything else.
Over at Fei Long, we see everyone working really hard. James, the gravedigger, can’t seem to sit still. He’s building a shelter. Wait! There’s one exception to this rule. That’s poker pro Jean-Robert. He is working hard to catch up on his ZZZs. The man wakes up long enough to complain about being tired. Then, he returns to his rest. Jean-Robert says this is all a part of his strategy. As in poker, he’s trying to make folks think he’s weaker than he is. Later, when he turns it on, they won’t know how to handle it.
Interesting strategy, but one that we think won’t carry Jean-Robert too far in this competition. As soon as Fei Long loses, he’s outta there.
Meanwhile, Todd is busy building his alliance. He and Amanda decide to bring in Aaron as the fall guy. Aaron is a strong character. In fact, he and Jean-Robert repeatedly clash. Todd’s hope is that Aaron will tick people off and he can be the fall-guy of his alliance.
We must admit that we love the way this guy’s mind works while being scared out of our wits at the same time.
At the reward challenge – in which almost everyone got naked - Zhan Hu lost easily to the much-stronger Fei Long. Fei-Long wins fishing gear. They also got to kidnap a member of the losing tribe. That person, Jaime, got a clue which she had to give to whoever she chose on Fei Long. Jaime chose Leslie, the Christian radio host, who bemoaned the fact that she didn’t have her Bible with her. Apparently, she needs it to pray properly. Ugh!
Anyway, Leslie promptly shared the information with Todd. Todd hopes to find the ‘immunity idol’ and ditch Leslie along the way. He’s ruthless.
At the immunity challenge, Fei Long again dominated. Dave, the leader of Zhan Hu, fell apart. He must’ve been tired from building the perfect fire pit. Dave admitted to his team that he fell apart. Meanwhile, his team decided that either Dave of Ashley would have to go. The conflict wasn’t good for the tribe.
In the end, the votes were cast for Ashley. Whether this will help Zhan Hu or not remains to be seen! However, we hope that this will serve as a wake-up call for Dave. He needs to stop treating people like crap, or they will toss him out soon.
