I was looking forward to Mark Burnett’s summer series Pirate Master. I mean I love Pirates of the Caribbean especially Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow character. Anyone who can make a goofy pirate get-up look so sexy is aiiiiight in my book.

As for the CBS series, I was hoping that this would be a really good show. The concept for Pirate Master is just awesome. The folks set sail on a ship and compete for treasure. They get to play pirate. Who didn’t do that as a kid or in the bedroom…but maybe that’s just me.

Sure, there’s a lot of backstabbing and bribery on the series. Folks have given others extra shares of treasure for their ‘loyalty’. It’s so unfair. Overall, the mental game is very cutthroat. It can be interesting to watch but only in small doses. The physical game includes sabotage and the separation of captain from crew just breeds contempt from both the crew and the viewers methinks. I just really think the cast has little personality. Why did Burnett take a bunch of Survivor rejects and put them on Pirate Master for?

The host Cameron Daddo is a hottie just like Jeff Probst. Of course, I wish they’d put him in a pirate costume, preferably shirtless. I love me some Aussie men. The accent is soooooooooo very sexy.

Wait! Where was I? Yes, the contestants all need to be cut adrift. They’re really boring to watch. I just can’t connect with any of these people. Maybe it’s the unreal situation they’re put in…of playing ‘pirates’. Perhaps it’s because they’re all greedy money-grubbers who don’t make me laugh, smile or root for them in any way. If I was the captain, I’d make ‘em all walk the plank.
