We’ve loved Elvira since we were very young. We remember staying up late with our parents to watch horrible B movie classics like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. We remember our moms getting a little annoyed by Elvira’s cleavage, probably because our dads couldn’t stop staring at it.
Frankly, neither could we. There’s something mesmerizing about the Halloween queen’s ample bosom, and she knows it.
Cassandra Peterson, the lady who has brought Elvira to life, is looking to add to her “forbidden (and sexy) army of the night.” Enter FOX Reality and The Search for the Next Elvira. Elvira needs a buxom, sassy lady (or lady-ish looking) to become her apprentice. If she can ‘french-kiss a tarantula,’ so much the better.
Joined by the gruesome twosome of Man-viras, The Mistress of the Dark chose thirteen ‘un-lucky’ contestants to become part of her ‘nightmare’. Don’t fret, fans! Elvira is not fleeing the scene. Cassandra Peterson is only looking for someone to help her with her appearance schedule. Even the Mistress of the Dark can’t be everywhere at once on All Hallow’s Eve.
Those contestants will go through some not-so-serious challenge including a dinner date with Big Brother All-Star Howie Gordon (Oh! The horror!) and lingerie shopping. Included in the mix are a “Girl Next Door” named Bridget Marquardt, Ms. Monster, a green-faced horror actress from San Francisco, Asia DeVinyl, a Goth model and Shelly Martinez, a wrestler and model who once used the moniker Halloween Barbie.
The ladies that Elvira ditches will be subjected to CGI-inflicted incineration and explosions.
All in all, the series, like the icon herself, is fun, campy and a bit creepy. It’s a great addition to the schedule during this, the Halloween season.
